I have a hard time finding anything on a search I don't know much about computers but it seems to me if someone post these things they should type in a description of their post-undercarriage repair and maintenance -then it should come up without looking through 100 pages starting with no 1. Hi Guys: Wow... I am blown away by your responses and the help that you have offered in your replies! Thanks to each of you very Much!! I am not even a Caterpillar Man Yet... although I do own some other brands, crawlers like Allis and Cletrac.
I posted my question to help in my self education of repair and maintenance of tracked equipment. I sure do like the Cat shovels and the D4's are real nice as well. Since my Caterpillar literature is growing over the past several years this has site has been a welcome addition to supplement that information. Well, before I stop rambling if you fella's need info on the AC or Cletrac Tracked machines I am willing to share what I know in order to help out. Take Care and Thank you Again for your replies!

Farmer3 - There are numerous problems involved in setting up an effective archive.
One of the major problems is ensuring that people use standard Cat terminolgy for parts and descriptions. There are plenty of slang words in use for tractor parts, and people use them when posting info, thus creating an indexing headache.
Top that with different local terminology as to where you live, and the problem compounds.
Second problem is, a lot of people can't spell. Not to put down anyone over that angle .. but it means that spelling errors in archiving have to be eliminated, so a search engine finds the article. This means that someone has to oversee, and "proof read" any items submitted.
Now, I don't know about you, but most people are already short on time, and have lives to lead .. and proof reading archive material, bites into that time.
This all has to done on a voluntary basis, and little thanks is given for it. Trying to find volunteers for any project is difficult.
Archived material has to be assessed for usefulness .. and it could easily take up mega-gigabytes of room, if not sorted into "highly sought after" info, and "not so useful" info.
I think if a compact list of desired archive material was drawn up, as required by BB users, it would be a good start, as much info submitted might only be of value to a limited number of people.
