Eric the man to look for is Steve weaver aka side seat on here he owns a 28 side seat and grader and I do believe that there could have been a grader matched to a split head 30 as that was getting close in the timeline for the 28s to come out. Been a long time since I saw steves set up but if I remember right it was a gear box on the rear with 2 shafts running from tractor to the grader to operate the grader. The youtube video is probalbly steves cat. Ill do some more research, Jason

That Thirty is very cool. I think the color is great. I've never seen a side seat Thirty, let alone one that was also a split head. That is one very rare tractor. You've done a wonderful job on the restoration.

Steve's Twenty Eight is very, very nice. I had forgotten that the graders had the option to be powered by the tractor's PTO. I only remembered the graders with all the hand-wheels and controls brought up so the operator could work them from the sideways tractor seat.

I have seen pictures of the brochure for the side seat Twenty Eight. I knew that there was a linkage similar to the brakes to bring the steering clutch levers around in front of the operator as he was sitting sideways, too. I wonder if a linkage like that was ever available for the Thirty.

Thanks for posting the pictures, and for doing a top notch restoration on a very worthy tractor.

Pete.

yes from the scans posted on here and the youtube vid, the 28 has a gearbox. i can see on mine, well at least before i painted it, that there had been something attached to the rear of mine. considering all the evidence, i would say it was the grader gearbox. no tellin where that gearbox is today. i am sure finding one of those would be near impossible. i wish that vid of the 28 was taken closer to the tractor and about 10-20 minutes long. looks like a beautiful and unique machine, eric

erik, thank you, thank you, thank you. that is what i need for sure. do you have any idea what that one brought at the auction? although one would be useless i suppose without the gearbox other than a pull along display.
