Looks to be at the end of the 4S series.
I show 13,279 - up and 1953 production.
I have the Operator's Instructions manual 4S1001 - up Diesel Engine and Electric Set but not the Parts Manual.
What information are you looking for?

As far as horse power there are so many settings for this engine that the RPMs & the rack setting would have to be determined to even establish what it is. My old Cat fuel injection book has a 1/2 page of different settings for that particular engine. AS far as a parts book the old D8 2U tractor had the same basic engine so most parts are all the same except a few minor differences.

Try Roland Machinery at 800-765-2635 and tell them that you want Ray Heffernaum to contact you. Roland Machinery is a Komatsu Dealer but they also sell Pyramid Parts. Pyramid crane chain cost a little more than the competitors but it's the best drive chain made..it's built heavier/beefier than than anybody elses. Once Pyramid chain is installed they'll be no more breaking pins or links.

Hi all , Brought my engine into a shop where i can work on it at night or during
bad weather , I had pulled the heads off this engine last summer while it was still in the shovel , I thought that I just had a stuck engine caused by water going down the exhaust , As it turns out there is a little more to it than that !!
I disconnected 3 connecting rods and pulled 3 sleeves pistons intact ,
Apparently someone had tried to turn this engine over with I believe water in cylinder As I found # 4 con rod severely bent ,and about a two inch chip out of the bottom of the sleeve ,the good news is the crank journals appear to be OK ,
I will try to pull the remaining 3 tomorrow .
I am starting to think I know how paso chris feels !!
