Misery - lots of laughs on that one Deas! (Misery would be wrestling with a cantankerous starting engine in heat of day with insects chewing on you at same time or maybe driving master pins out of track with 20# hammer and drift held by pliers and your buddy in Calif summer heat, no shade!)

Now you have to fill in the rest of the blanks!
Who or what was ORD - U.S.A. on the radiator - or was that just a radiator that was "borrowed" from something else?
Who made the track frames, etc?
I had a note on my files, that is was powered with 6 cylinder Buick engine, as far as I can go.

As we all can see, it has the ears of a Holt for the friction clutches, and there the similarity fades away quickly.

Thank You, Stay Safe!

Hi, CTS.
This is all I can find on this jigger.

This photo is alleged to be a Holt 2 1/2-ton artillery tractor, which, I think, originally came powered with a Cadillac engine, maybe a V8.

My search for "Ord USA" came up NADA.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I too found "nada" on the Google Search
I was thinking ORD was maybe something to do with ORDINANCE but could not confirm.
Many portions are quite unique on that machine, obviously not successful.

Hi, Folks.
After wandering around a couple of military history sites which BRIEFLY mentioned the Holt 2 1/2 ton tractor, I am wondering if the "ord" on that radiator tank is an abbreviated form of "ordinance".

I wish to think "Ord" is abbreviation for Ordinance as well. Maybe one of the military experts can chime in. JM

I would agree especially since the 2 1/2 ton was being made and marketed to the Ordinance Department.
(second thouoght - O ff R oad D ragster) (even with a V-8 Cadillac powerplant)
