Did a search on the forum:
https://acmoc.org/forum/discussion/d2-steering-brakes

Seems to be similar.

Here's a picture:

I'm fixing this up for someone else, and I don't know what they did with the parts or what happened to them: this is how it was delivered. Most of them seem to be present, except for one of these two service covers, and almost all the bolts. [Put your bolts back in the threaded holes. Some drink the water district water around here, and it shows.]

Prior to this, the reported condition was 'clutches are frozen but motor runs', and parked under a carport. However, previous, it was parked out in the open. I don't know when those service covers were removed; I would guess while it was under the carport. They've been off since this was dropped-off, and the hill it's on has seen several storms (water and dirt, it's extremely dirty/dusty up here). One of these cover/access plates (you're looking at the left side, in photo) is completely missing. The current owner has no interest in covering this properly (no barn etc building, that will withstand the weather on the hill), so, part of the question is, and after reading the thread above, "What do I have to do to drain it?" assuming water.

The motor runs -see prior posts under this account, or search for 'New' D2. The guy finally came out, and he started it up in a few minutes, that's when he tried to drive it. There's also oil seepage from around the left side of the throttle; he said he'll figure that out. Seems like pressure is getting in there and pushing oil out. Maybe a bad seal on that throttle?

Meanwhile, I'm focused on getting these brakes unstuck. The left side, you push down, and it stays down. The right side moves more, forward and back. I've only cleaned around the pivot then removed the 4 bolts this morning. Not sure what to do next. I have no experience with maintenance of this sort, on this kind of machine. Someone pointed out getting a service manual that covers the DJ311 engine, but I don't think it covers the chassis.

Forum software is broken. No captcha challenge but it keeps asking me to 'complete captcha challenge'. Can't use forum :(

Grease the daylights out of the pivot points and use some heat if available. D2 is one of the worst about drawing in moisture from every nook and cranny/pivot point you name it. Work the pedals with some HD penetrating oil too. Good luck. JM

Hi, RHX.

With regard to the photo not coming through, I have found that with this new forum format, selecting "edit" to try to attach your photo a second time takes you to a new blank page, However, if your photo doesn't show when you post your message, if you highlight the text of your message and select "copy' BEFORE you select "edit" to try to get your photo posted, you can then paste the text of your message in the new blank page and then attach your photo again. I have found that the second attachment works pretty much every time.

Hope this helps.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

The forum keeps asking me to complete a totally unnecessary 'captcha challenge', even though I am already logged-in, and no one else is logged in as me. Why ask for a captcha challenge when I'm already authenticated? It only breaks the forum software, such as the image not being displayed.

I stepped away for a month hoping they would have fixed this forum software they replaced the previous version with, but it is not.

Sorry I can't get the image to post.

Maybe Deebo is watching and can investigate your situation. I realize it is frustrating to say the least. I am seeing "fixes" finally. Without some constructive feedback, the volunteers and webmaster will not know.

Hope to see your D2 project. When I wanted to post a photo, sometimes it took awhile to buffer along with some experimentation and a choice word or two...Don't give up! JM

Hi, RHX.

You can see the 'Captcha' feature at the bottom left of the page under the text box BEFORE you start to type your message. Once you start to type your message, you will need to use the "Scroll' button on the FAR right of the page to be able to scroll down far enough to see it again.
