Hello team,
my name is Paul Morgan, iv’e recently started working for myself in the north/west NSW area.
I’m reaching out to the site to ask if anyone has finished using or knows of someone who would be willing to sell their tooling whether it be just the cylinder or the tooling as a group. Any help from someone who even knows of someone would be greatly appreciated

thank you
Paul Morgan.

Hi Paul, specify which model tractor you want this for. For the smaller tractors, homemade pulling arrangements can be organized. I use a generic hole ram and some threaded rods and simple adaptors to remove and install my D2 sprockets

Cheers,
Neil

Hey Neil, sorry mate for late reply.
Pretty much D6 and D7 would be Likely to be the most Common ones but hopefully all of them in time I guess
I think the 100T press would be the go and tooling.

Neil, is there any way to find out how genuine someone is on this site? Just to make sure that someone isn’t a scam.

No problem, this isn't my day job : ) Easiest way to check a user's member status is probably to ask an admin. We do have admins that regularly check for spammers/scammers/non-legitimate users so the incidence is very low

Cheers,

I missed this thread for some reason, must have been away from home, a few years ago I went down the path of making the tooling because I couldn't find a set for sale, not here in Australia anyway, they pop up in the USA every few years, wasn't there a set advertised on here the past few months?

Luckily I found a old Cat 100 ton pump on gumtree, but there was no tooling with it, luckily I was able to borrow some of the tooling, like the pull arms, and some of the threaded adapters, and my Fitter and Turner neighbour Geoff made duplicates, the pull arms I had cut at a engineering shop, and actually ended up with a spare set of arms because they cut the holes a fraction too small in the first set.

I have the old Cat tech booklet which gives the part numbers, and thread sizes of all the adapters for all the Cats, for all the repairs to the engines and trannys, not sure if that is in the tech library on here, but that made it a lot easier because it lists the thread sizes for each of the adapters. The first step is you need to find a 100 ton pump, the genuine Cat one's are super expensive new, and almost impossible to find used, which is weird because there were a lot of repair folks around Australia working on Cats, not just Cat Dealers, but any porta pack unit will work provided the oil capacity is big enough, you need 10,000psi, once you have a pump, then making the tooling is not that hard, or expensive, particularly for the smaller Cats, but if I was working on big Cats, I'd be very careful about the quality of the tooling, things can explode like a hand grenade.

You need the part numbers of the tooling you are looking for, once you have them, you can reach out to Tillys, and other Aussie Cat parts suppliers, and run down tooling, but even aftermarket tooling is not cheap.

Regarding the scammers, I had one reach out to me recently on this site, the jerk claiming he had what I needed, and others had complained of him too, but when I asked him to send me photo's, and give me his address, he disappeared back into the shadows.   John Gaunt, our new President blocked his access, but knowing scammers, he is probably back in here using a different device. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is sadly, but ask on here if you need to verify someone, us Aussie Catheads know each other.

I'll post some pics when the sun comes up.
Mike
