More
3 years 2 weeks ago #232689 by Fat Dan
I'm needing an oil cooler and lines for an 8T Motor Grader 8T01230 The one for AT UM is not there and the lines have been bypassed. They make a hard U-turn at the filter housing.
P/N 4F7975 core ass.
P/N line a line b ???? not sure how much bracketry I'll need yet ...  just looking to see if I can locate parts.
Plan A is to engineer a cooler then Plan A.5 is to locate one and fix it right.

Dan, Do you really need one if you don't work your machine at max all day? The reason I ask is my 8T was previously owned by a contractor and the oil cooler was so packed with oil and dirt, it was totally non functional. The whole radiators also pretty plugged. Maintenance was not his strong suite.

I have been doing some research (A.K.A Squatch253's channel LOL) and he had the same reasoning. He said Cat had a Service Bulletin about the New Oils (of the day) and the D2 not needing the oil cooler even back the 40's. I know there is a big deference between a D2 and No.12 Motor Grader (D3400 & D318 respectively) but I figured (like you said) if I'm not really working the machine so there is no real reason to run an oil cooler.

Thanks so much for your thoughts, time and experience.
