A Ball-type jar will work but you have to use the one with the wide rim below the threads. I can't remember what that's called but I have one on my 53 D2 and it stays in place. The original jar was actually a plastic jar with a steel circlip that was used to with the clamp. I had one but didn't know what I had so threw it out. I realize now I could have had someone 3D print a new jar and just swap the circlip to it. Oh well, live and learn
