Wanted manifolds for Cat Thirty

More
3 years 6 months ago #222356 by Mike Meyer
I have 3 dead Cat Thirty's that need good used manifolds, there are no serial numbers or date stamps on any of them, though 2 of the tractors are early types with the small recoil springs, the 3rd tractor I'm assuming was built around 1928, it has the larger recoil springs.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the offer Jim, I haven't found a used manifold set yet so may need to go down that path, I wasn't expecting it to be so hard to find even one set, they just don't seem to be out there.

Mike

Mike, I gave Rob a Thirty Manifold [Straight one] after Hamilton Rally, It had a Crack in Middle but repairable. He said He had a Mate that could Weld anything and be No Problem , Maybe He forgot to give it to You LJ

Hello Lance, thanks for chiming in, yes I got that manifold from Rob but it was broken completely in half sadly, and he didn't mention a mate who might be able to weld it, or perhaps when his mate saw it was actually a 90 year old exhaust manifold that needed welding, he withdrew his offer. LOL

Even if I could repair that broken exhaust manifold I still need 2 full manifold sets for the other 2 tractors if they are to ever bark again.
thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
Just found this photo, you could make your own like this, as I dont think there is a patent on it.

Hi Mike, if you just need something to get the engines running again while you're looking for legit manifolds, you can make both of them out of exhaust tubing. I've done that plenty of times and it works just fine. Think of headers on your bogan mate's Valiant Slant 225 : )

Cheers,
Neil

Yes you are right Neil, I just wasn't expecting it to be so hard to find decent used manifolds considering there were 25,000 of the 30's made, plus no doubt, thousands more manifolds made as spare parts over the years.
