Crank on crack Or cracked crank p/n 3F6777
Need a D315 for the 12A-03563 hopefully in western Canada or Alaska.
Not sure what would be cheaper to buy a long block or get a crank and do it myself. Living in Alaska presents different circumstances in shipping.
$77 cutting edge was over $350.00 in Shipping

The D315 Cat crank mic-ed out at
mains all @ 3.499” spot on
watermarks and scratches 0.005 - 0.010“
clean up
rod’s book specs call for 2.999 - 3.000
No. 1 -.042 specs @ 2.958 not good
No. 2 -.035. specs @ 2.965 not good
No. 3 +0.001 specs @ 3.001
No. 4 -0.001 specs @ 2.999
What would be the max I can grind down the crank down

Hi Fat Dan,
I had a look at Cat parts book and they only show .030 but when you go onto Machinery trader they show .010 to .050 are avalible for many suppliers.
Hope this helps

Yes it helps quit a bit. Thank you so much. Wow 0.050” ! Reminds me of a Ford 352-390 blocks, they could be bored out to 0.120”. I never did it but I heard they over heated quickly This is a Cat so I guess 0.050” ain’t too much. Now to find some bearings. Got a machine shop lined out.
I would have put money down that that crank was no good. I guess I’ll just have to keep it under Mach II.
