What's a good wood to use for the street pads like that Twenty-Two has? I'd like to make some pads for my D2

Neil,

You are deep in Hard OAKWOOD territory where the pallet wood is cut and sawn. Out here in CA, as Daron says, we grab the Oak wood pallets that come out from back east because we don't have access to cheap oak. Chum's uncle used to have a sawmill in Portville NY where I grew up which I remember and he would have sawn the local oak trees. Check around up there. No need to get "Mother" upset with a pile of pallets. There is also hard maple around there which I would think would work for pads.

I have pads on my FIFTEEN that I got from "John in Fresno" but I am not sure if he made templates for a D2 for his pads.
