Hello All again ,, finally found a fellow who will hopefully make for me new shaft 5F1131. for my D6 PTO Unit ,,, will have him make 2 if all ok ... Also ive asked him to beef up the output end ,,to the bigger finner spline shaft like more modern tractors have ,, think they call them 1000,,,,instead of the old common 540 shaft ,, ive broke 2 off. Will hope all works out ,,, looked all over for the part !! .. Regards to all ,,,, keep safe.. pete

What are you powering with this PTO? Do you have the correct drawbar length? if its towed. Better put a slip clutch on whatever your using.

Good advice on the slip clutch or shear pin. No way that little shaft is going to stand up to the torque delivered by that PTO.

Replied by D6 Pete on topic My new shaft being built
The new shaft will have the later size{bigger} output. Should be ok I hope .. Ive had about 10 years use from the original ,, it got bent a little couple years back , and straitened again with a jack ,,,,That was what failed it !! .. I don't run full power to the Slasher ..Its 12ft wide. There are clutches on the slasher.. Regards pete

D6Pete, was the shaft that broke a 1 3/8" diameter? If so, what size are you increasing it to, and can you source an off-the-shelf yoke for the front of your mower driveshaft?

Cheers,
Neil

I know its yours, but, if it was mine I would lengthen that drawbar and pto shaft at least a foot and a half more. Thats allot of strain on the pto when turning.

There are two different fine splined 1000 rpm shafts, I assume Pete you are going for the bigger size.

If you can straighten the drive line angle the u joints will last longer. Nice set up.
