I have been looking for a replacement battery box for U series D6, but find replacement units for everything but caterpillar tractors. Why are they made for every thing but CAT. I did find a local fab shop that will make a custom one. I guess I'm just complaining that boxes are made for everything else.

There was a person on here years ago that had reproduced the complete battery box for the U series tractors. He stopped making them as no one wanted to pay what he needed to get out of them.

I just recently had 2 Boxes made ,to exact measurements of My "Buckled one". That did not include that Crazy retainer that Cat put in them, [1] had no holes for amp Gauge, Light switches,Starter Button and Leads $450 aud and the other one had all that done $550 aud plus GST of Course. Included was a Gal.base to hold battery and I made the retaining Bolts and strap Similar to 4B5163 as fitted to an R2 except the Starter switch is mounted inside. Looks a real Mickey Mouse Job .LJ

I used the expanded polystyrene that my battery was packed in for shipping, small trim and it fits neatly inside the battery box, and of course has excellent impact resistance.
