What are my options for engine thermostat to replace Cat 5H0957? Older Cat #6F9467. Any aftermarket or replacement?

Don't think that those will work for the D4 7U as they are missing the section that cuts out the bypass when the thermostat opens. See the pictures on post #10 of this thread... www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?24646-OE...ermostat-alternative

I further investigated my situation and had pulled a 5H0957 reg.- Cat. It has no provision for a weir type bypass It identical to any of the Gates pieces listed. The coolant bypass in that D4 is in the waterpump from what I can see.
It must depend on the year and what changes were made.

If you can find one other than Cat I'd recommend it, Cat wanted $35 to ship my 212 grader thermostat to me, making it an $80 thermostat! Unless you have a convenient Cat dealer nearby.

Other numbers: 4F7059, 1A3448, 1A8191, 8B8017, 2H9986, 8F8817, and Gates 33407.
