I was browsing Polk Auction site in Indiana and came across what seems to be a really nice 5U D2. It is on the day 3 Saturday auction and it is listed on page 8 toward the end of sale and you can bid online through nextlot. Its not mine but I just wanted to share incase someone out there wants one already done.

Very nice, someone took their time with the paint for sure. Notice no paint on the serial tag, but yet the drive screw heads are painted! If the attention to detail regarding the mechanical aspect of the resto was as spot on as the paint, this D2 would be a keeper. Very nice job.

I thought it was a nice looking machine but that must have really been impressive in person.

Wow indeed!
I better get to turning wrenches to convert all that tired rusty iron scattered about the property to gold right now!!
It seems the results of that auction were high for most or all the machines or maybe I am just cheap. Yes, most of them looked great and fully functional but who knows.
It almost seems as that there were some "big money" buyers for the items.
I just hope this caterpillar hobby is not creeping into the realm of the "well heeled and rich" only. That would be sad indeed.

All the years of buying rusty junk fooling your wife into thinking it has "Retirement Value" now you can show her the results of that Auction! She will give you Blessing to go buy more thinking of the Retirement Value!
