My 5j8181 catapillar d2 has a cracked pony motor block. I'd like to buy a block or whole pony motor.

D2 Sherman, how or where is it cracked ? If it is below the cylinders is may be from freezing. Also, it may not "need" to be replaced. I was just talking to another member yesterday about that.

If it runs fine, you might consider an epoxy repair. Sounds hokey, but seems to work fine for many years. Rebuilding a pony can open a big can of worms.....

D2Sherman, I have a dozen or more pony motors that will fit your D2 here in Calif. Like Tognot said if it's just a freez
crack repair it, if it's not repairable I can help. They range from $200 to $500 depending on how complete one is. I don't
have any electric start parts. It's the freight that's the killer.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to dig into this dozer first. It runs but allows coolant into the oil. I just got this d2 in a trade and have a few other loose ends to button up first.
