It looks like it's had a rather interesting repower at one time, as that isn't the original Cat engine but it looks like they did a good job, at least from the pics.

Is it a 212? No front tilt on wheels. Lift arms look different. It sure doesn't look like my 1952 model. I like the military plate though.

I think it is a 212, although it appears to be a "base model" version so to speak. The military data plate lists the manufacturer's serial number as 1R1092, which would make it one of the early Diesel 212's built somewhere between 1939 and 1943 according to the info I have here. I can see where the side mounted leaning wheel gearboxes should attach to the frame, but the entire front axle is different from the leaning wheel setup. Possibly these could have been ordered this way from the factory? I don't know, or maybe someone reworked this grader by putting a non-leaning front end on it?

1R1092 = 1943 212, no tilt front wheels on that model.

Well, we do know they were capable of modifications. I could see a different front axle specified. I have seen a few early graders with front V-plow that did not have tilt on the front axle. They probably changes a bit by the time mine was built.
