Now if you and Mother were going over to Brooks Neil, you could take those track frames to Oregon, and return with your pump, plus no doubt some other cheap Cat treasure you would pick up over there, I've heard of some amazing bargains at the auction over there, sounds like most the old Cats get bought by the bottom feeding scrappers and crushed right there in front of everyone, that's a sight I'd never want to see.
There might even be a beautiful pair of late model, NOS, extra long D2 track frames, still in their wood packing crate with a pair of brand new genuine Cat chains to go with them just waiting for you, ya never know if ya never go, I'll chuck 100 bucks into the gas kitty to help you go west ...........LOL

I'd love to do it Mike if only I didn't hate driving : ) and my schedule's not even going to let me install new gutters on the house this weekend... Have you tried uShip or something like that as well? I'd have to think that though that Fastenal would be the best option - they're a great shipper and they can hold on to your stuff for a short period while you arrange to go pick it up, and if you want to pay extra, they'll hold it longer
Cheers,
Neil

No I haven't Neil, I'm worried by the time those tracks frames get loaded and unloaded a dozen times or more, and shipped all the way to my place in Oz, the freight costs will be very expensive, potentially in the thousands sadly.
Regards
Mike

I was thinking if you could get it to the location where the Oz container leaves from? That might only be a single Fastenal trip?

The container will be loaded at Scott Hayes place at Molalla over in Oregon sometime next year, in theory, and that's only if our illustrious President Wombat can fly Stateside without being locked up for 2 weeks in quarantine when he returns, with covid restrictions it's really hard getting in and out of Oz.
All the best

Yeah when I visited NZ in Oct for Dad's funeral, I had to stay care of Her Majesty's Hotel for two weeks. I only got out of paying the $3k privilege because of the bereavement. I checked again last night and it's still 3k so I'll need to save up for the end-of-year trip. The only upside of it was I was staying in a resort-style hotel, the weather was sunny, I had a ground floor room with patio opening onto the courtyard, and the girls in the hotel couldn't think of anything else to do for two weeks except sunbathe outside my room. I didn't really notice because I was SO busy staring at my computer.....

Sorry to hear about your Dad passing Neil, I reckon he must have led a very interesting life back when men were men, including being an exceptional helicopter pilot, I'm sure he was very proud of you.
Byron Heal sent me a email yesterday saying not to stress, they can use those track frames and rollers, at the foundry next time they cast some new Cat parts..............
Sincerely
Mike

Thanks Mike, yes he had a good life, no complaints. Not much of a talker though : )
Yes track frames - I was looking on the interwebs last night at a plasma torch which got me thinking if I could spend a bit of time to learn CAD, I could draw up the plates to be cut and send the files to someone to cut out for me. The two side pieces are just regular old channel I believe. I can get hold of channel with either straight or sloping sides so should be able to match that up. The other option is to get hold of D3 track frames - I don't know which would be the better (read: time, cost, complexity) option - to get D3 frames and modify, or build new D2 frames. Given it's going to have all D3 running gear, I'd think that the D3 frames might be the better option. What do you think?
Cheers,
Neil
