Mine is cracked. Its a 1940 212 Diesel Motor Grader, Serial #1R565 SP. 4cyl diesel, believe its the D3400. Head casting number is 7B596. Google's top search Ag something doesn't have one. 2 machine shops told me not worth fixing. Ranch machine, not looking for perfection. Central Texas. Thanks.

Don't throw out your old one. They're getting very rare to find ones that are not cracked. And don't listen to those machine shops. If the need is great enough, anything can be fixed. I've held on to my old heads for this very reason.

Cheers,
Neil

I'll for sure keep all my old parts. I've even patched up my pony motor. I'm tempted to fix this head myself, drilling holes and inserting the threaded plugs one on top of the other.

Replied by Texasbanton on topic Thanks TOGNOT
Member TOGNOT sold me one. Just made the injector removal tool, and the pre-combustion chamber tool, so the machine shop can check the surfaces. Thanks again!

Is there any difference in a 212 head casting and a D2 crawler casting?

No, they both use the same parts (heads). The only real differences between our early 212 and my old 5J D2 is the oil pan and governor side cover, all else is the same. Same goes for the heads on a later D311 and a U series D2.
