Always wonder when there is starting fluid on the fender and the grass is lush green. Improper starting technique or something flat worn out?

This is a 1955 cat, serial number 7U33709. The diesel runs great. I had work done to the pony motor and it starts first pull, but the pony motor knocks so I pull started the tractor that day of the photo with an M Farmall. Used starting fluid while pulling and it started first attempt in just a few feet. The photo was not taken this spring as we are still under snow here in Minnesota.

I figured the picture was from last summer. Has the pony been rebuilt since then or does it currently have a knock?

I see there is a toolbar beam as well. Would you be willing to sell that separate? The whole combo is nice. I wonder how far Moose Lake is from your location.
