Hello, I am looking for a Caterpillar hand crank handle to crank over my pony motor by hand of course on my D7E 48A. It appears in Caterpillar parts manual as part number 8M3271. It could be 8M327, the 1 is hard to read in this copy of a page I have. A D8 hand crank may work as well. Old Magnet is his excellent research identified the block and heads on my pony motor as being similar to the D8. Let me know what you have! Thank You!

I may be corrected but I believe that there are different places to crank from depending on how it is set up. Is yours thru the hood or? I'm not sure if the cranks are the same regardless of crank position. Someone will know.

Hi the crank input on my D7E 48A is at about a 45 degree angle coming in from the left side of the tractor and goes through a factory cut out in the left engine lower side enclosure. It does not go through the hood. I am not sure how long of a driveshaft or how long the crank assembly would have to be to clear the tracks for cranking the pony over. I have never witnessed anyone hand crank start a pony motor on a Cat D7E 48A. Maybe some who has can comment?
