My D2 track chains (less pads) are good enough for show or pulling, but not good enough for dozing. They are too snakey to back up over rough ground on slopes with the Cat front end heavy from the weight of the blade. Occasionally they would jump the flanges of the rollers but only when backing on rough slopes. I'm the second owner of this 5U D2. The original owner had the pins turned and new bushings put into the chains. The bushings look like new without obvious external wear. Minimum rail thickness is 21/32 and most links measure a little thicker. I've put a few hundred hours on the machine dozing and have had no trouble with the tracks other than the snakeyness. When I recently changed track chains I noticed a couple of pins that were a little loose in the bosses and probably should be spot welded in. The others were tight. The chain pitch is good but it needs new master pins if you were going to put on a lot of hours. A few links have a cracked web but this seemed not to cause any problems. I'm asking $400 for the pair at our farm in Central Montana. I could ship at your expense if requested.
