D47U, SN 17001, being offered for sale--$5K. Canopy is a 10, but the diesel and pony I don't know status. But based upon what I have seen and heard, I would assigned a 5 out of 10. The tractor has really not been operated for at least 20 years. Started here and there only.
Please offer your evaluation of the price and suggestions for evaluating the quality of this Cat.
thanks,

condition of the undercarriage would play a big factor in estimating the value as well as the machine location.

Tidy appearance, good canopy and a toolbar blade, seems to have all the right stuff for a pedigree, serial# indicates dry master clutch. If motors are free, I think would be a good price.

Tool bar blade which is useful if you want to mount rear implements, which will increase its values, but blade arrangement can be a bit weaker than the full bull or angle blade fitted from new.
Looks in good nick tho, and will be worth the money if it runs okay and the chains and rollers are in decent shape.
You can easy lose 6k on fixing the track gear on one of these.
Check the rear end for cracks and welds too as repairs in the nether regions are very common.

Looks like it will need new seals in the hyd Rams and I'd be putting a cover around the hyd unit. But as other people have said if the tracks are good and moters seem ok it sounds like a good buy. Things to check for that I have found with my d4 is the starting pinion that the pony moter drives and the track springs for broken main bolt. I'm in Australia and when I brought mine I was told that d4 of that vintage were anywhere from $4000-$8500 depending on condition.
