Most shops that work on old tractors or old cars should be able to help, for electric start the big issue is do you have a ring gear , if not you have to pull the engine to install one

Alec,
If you do convert to electric start I suggest you convert it to a 12 volt system. If you already have a generator on your tractor you would have to have it re-wired to 12 volts, with the appropriate regulator. BTW, I found that the ring gear on my CAT22, 2F5209, was in very bad shape. I could not find the correct ring gear to replace it, so I paid a local machine shop do the following. They removed the ring gear, flipped the ring gear over, re-installed the ring gear, then cut the lead-in bevels on all of the teeth.

BTW, there as been other threads on this site talking about replacement ring gears. I found that the ring gears they recommended were not a fit for my flywheel, without re-machining the flywheel and replacing the starter pinion. I tried every possible cross reference on ring gears commercially available, without success. I believe that the correct ring gear for my tractor has 118 teeth, and I do not recall the ID dimension. I even contacted ring gear manufacturers in India to get a quote on them making the correct ring gear for my CAT 22. They said they could do it, but that there would be a $5,000 NRE charge and a minimum order quantity of 500. I was not prepared to do that.

RAy
