I am pleased to offer this incredible piece of Caterpillar history, for sale.

This large, 1/10 scale model was hand-built in 1963 by Caterpillar, the tires were custom made by Goodyear Tire.

Made by the Technical Fraternity at Cat to help generate support for the new off-road trucks division (see article).

Forty-one 779's were built, however, these trucks were a total failure due to a number of mechanical issues and ultimately bought back by Cat to avoid costly warranty repairs and destroyed. Therefore, this model by default is the only remaining 779 Caterpillar in existence, and clearly an important piece in Cat's history, as the 779 despite it's failures, became the segway to the next wave of incredibly
successful off-road Cat trucks, e.g. the 777.
