Looking for a voltage regulator for a D2 with direct electric start. Generator is an American Bosch.
Caterpillar part numbers are 7H4160, 9H6324, 4H7946, 6H9406. I called Cat and all #s are discontinued.
Thanks, Gary

Translates to an American Bosch RGR-2418 C,F or H 112 model but I don't see any out there.

Thank You for looking. That number (RGR 2418 H 112) is correct and I have been making a lot of calls all over but no luck yet. I am trying to keep it original if possible. There is a Delco #1118737 which I am told will work if all else fails. The points on the battery coil are burnt and it needs adjusting. I have not found anyone who rebuilds them either. I bought one from CAT in 1989, just a short time ago... Gary

Hey Gary,

Try Hoot's repair in Petaluma.
(707) 762-1823

I've had good luck with them on all my old motors and such.

Delco Remy is usually for a type "A" circuit generator.
Bosch is a type "B" circuit.

Thank You very much for that information. I will not get that one and keep looking for a rebuilt or take off. I called Hoots and got no answer. I will call again in a while.
Thank You everyone for the help. Gary

Hi Josh,

That is what I was looking for as far as a non original replacement. OM noted in an above post that I need a type "B" circuit for American Bosch and the ones shown are type "A". What do you think? Gary

If this regulator on ebay works in the description it calls out Caterpillar part number of 2m6497. There is currently stock in Caterpillar facilities of 2M6497 located in US warehouses.
