Where is the hydraulic pump on the 22 in Chico?
Its a shame that someone can't pickup the D4 in Boston before it gets scrapped.

i have been in contact with the owner---1955 chassis and a 1953 motor---doesn't want to have to play with it and start it so wants a roll back with a winch to pick it up---I'm guessing around 12000---15000 lbs??

Good question Jeff. Looks like the lines just stop right by the mag.

dpendzic, I was thinking about giving a call on this...though it sounds like it is somewhat rough shape and I believe a D2 would work a bit better for me as a hobby machine. From the photos the blade was worked hard and he states the undercarriage is in need of full replacement. Any thoughts on this after having spoke with the owner?
Thanks,

OR---I think it would warrant a trip there to check it out before making an offer--the price he is asking is cheap but then undercarriages are not cheap!

Thanks..All of my research has really been around the D2, wasn't sure if this era of D4 was easier to locate parts for the undercarriage and engine or not. My use would be for hobby use, light logging, etc. I've been a bit hesitant just due to size/weight and hauling considerations, also located quite close to the salt water, and I've seen what that does to old iron...though, I have sandblasted enough to know that rust can be dealt with....just a matter of how much elbow grease, time and money one wants to put into the restoration. I'm considering giving him a call.

keep in mind the cost of hauling---can be more than the machine cost--where are you located? i have a D2 on Long Island south shore and the salt air doesn't seem to have much of an effect once the machine is painted.
