Working on a D8 15A1928 Resealed the torque converter and now working on the clutch assembly. needing a 8H5624 sleeve assembly. this is the piece that goes through the through out bearing and the fork connects too. also looking for a clutch disc part #5H4796.

This machine has diesel fuel in the torque converter. was there a D9 that used the same set up? would the parts be the same?
Thanks David

I had to work on my 15A D8 to put a clutch in a few years ago. Does your tractor have a pony motor or is it a battery start? I'm looking for a pony start engine. I do have a used clutch disk that came out of my tractor (I think). I called Caterpillar to ask about the clutch and they said that they had taken the clutch out of their inventory years ago. When I asked the price of the last inquiry they said it had been listed as $1365.xx. WOW! Do you know of any pony engines?

If you find your used disk will you measure how thick it is? I might be interested if its better than the one we have. I had a pony for a 15A but i actually sold it last week. I had it listed on here for sale once or twice and a guy from Oklahoma came and got it.

Here's the 8H5624

www.machinerytrader.com/list/partssearch...ch=Search&PST=Starts

They may be able to find the other part for you.

These guys are good to deal with and show to have a D8 15A in for parts, he may have both pieces that you need.

What did you get for your pony motor? Wondering what they go for....

If your clutch has a good center with all the springs, you could probably have it re-surfaced by a brake company that works on industrial machinery ....

I'll look for mine

Red sold the pony for $300.00 with all parts that we removed to install 24volt starter.

the clutch disc does not have a spring loaded center. the lining is not riveted on it appears to be bonded.
The clutch shop in Kansas City could not help us or find one. the pressure plate does not use springs to hold from slipping. it is like a twin disc pto clutch. uses cams and breaks over center to hold.

Well we welded and machined the 8H5624 sleeve assembly. never could find one there were two listed on machinery trader one did not have it and the one over seas would not respond. we are now looking for a clutch disc 5H4796 plate assembly. does any one no the original thickness? our disc is bonded not riveted and appears to be ceramic? something different than riveted lining. would like a new one.
Thanks David

There is a 8M7448 plate assembly also that would work.

Thanks General Gear did not have them any more. I purchased one from Twin Disc $1737.18 with shipping. we had the flywheel and pressure plate surfaced. only one clutch shop in Kansas city that had a machine big enough to do the job.
