OFF TOPIC Ramp srings? was created by janmeermans

Can anyone help with this one? I am building some ramps and need some torsional springs which assist in raising the ramps after loading or unloading. I have visited spring vendors and trailer fabricator sites but have not found any of the size I need.

This trailer picture shows the springs I am looking for and how they mount.

Try E-bay for torsion springs for a overhead door,try work both ways, and are all different sizes, worked for me.

Jan, what is the diameter of the shaft they need to mount on? I did a quick google search and found a couple places online that deal in those ramp assist springs that allow for a 1 1/2" shaft and have from 1,500 to 2,000lb torsion capacity, those specifications seemed to be very common for that style of spring.

Guys,

You are all terrific here on this BB. I was looking in "trailer parts" of manufacturers and not seeing anything. I guess my search quest was faulty.

Jan Call Zieman trailer in Redlands they have ramp trailers that use what u need

I was just thinking you should ask them about the cross shaft and gussets also that way you wouldn't have hunt for the right shaft size and end caps.
