It is a power unit. The only serial number that I can find is on metal tag on the side of the block # 4B1888. I'm looking for a turbo and turbo oil supply line ,a good used water pump or rebuildable one. I am also going to need my injection pump rebuilt or replace it with a good used one. If you have any of these items please contact me.

Hi,
in case you missed it here is a link to a plea from OM for proper data to be given or we will not answer requests for said data. I am not trying to flame you but we need certain data to satisfy your request/plea. If you went to The Dealer with the data you have given us you would get a similar plea for you to come back with a S/No and application.

www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?23429-Registration-Requirements !!!

You have asked for a turbo and oil line drain line for your D330C engine.

The minimum required data needed for someone to assist you would be a Serial Number for a machine power unit, the type of tractor, grader, etc it is used in. Some applications have an Arrangement Number for the engine build parts consist that allows one to pinpoint the exact parts needed.

If the engine was a marine or on-highway truck engine it could have a rear mounted turbo and the oil line would be different to one for a machine application wether it be just turbo charged or after-cooled as well and so forth.
If an industrial engine the engine could have a thousand different speed and horsepower settings with de-rates for altitude considerations--most of these need a different turbo to suit the speed, horsepower and altitude requirements.
I have likely not covered all the possible variations of application etc.

Next item that would be of assistance is any turbo ID tag Part No's taken from the existing turbo tag--only if you had it of course-- as you do not say if the turbo is missing or un-serviceable.

As you no doubt now realise someone could supply any D330C turbo that is totally wrong for your application and it would likely fail in a short time.

Hope this helps explain the situation from our side of the fence.
We eagerly await some data so we can help you further.

Best regards,
Eddie B.

The only serial number I could find was on a tag at the side of the block. Serial # 4B1888. No numbers on the turbo. I only have a picture of the power unit after the radiator was taken off to be fixed. And no sheetmetal on it; But may be it will help identify.

Hi,
good work, the S/No does help a bit--now we can see from your pix that you require a rear mount turbo drain line.
Can any previous owner help with power details or the engine application--what it powered-- and the RPM it was adjusted for.

Alas, without an engine Arrangement Number, from another tag seemingly missing from, usually glued to, the rocker cover on these engines, or near the S/No tag or else where on the engine it is very hard to track the correct turbo down.
It seems that the turbo is there but may not be serviceable?

I suggest taking the turbo to a specialist turbo repairer and they should be able to identify any replacement parts needed to rebuild your turbo by comparing your turbo's housing ratio numbers, the number of fins on each turbine wheel etc.
The turbo's usually have a tag attached to the centre housing, in between the inlet and exhaust housings. Yes, sometimes in hostile environments they rot off being aluminium.

The power settings, etc. of your engine would be on another tag, as mentioned above, and from the data there the HP, RPM, Altitude and Rack Settings, and the Engine Arrangement Number are given. Without this tag we are hard pressed to help further.

After the turbo is repaired a Dyno test would establish the HP and RPM output of your engine. The Dealer or some one with the knowhow could check the current Rack Setting but would not be able to establish the power output until the engine was run and the RPM,s established--even then it would be approximate but close.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Eddie B.

At some point the turbo blew up. And they put a plate to block the exhaust and the intake off. So as I stated earlier, it is not rebuildable. It was originally bought to run a sawmill unit and that is its intended purpose now. The previous owner is deceased, so this is all the information I have to work with.

Hi,
without further data from any source I see your only option is to take the turbo remains to a turbo shop and see what they can do to help. You tell us the turbo blew up at some time and is not rebuildable but, as yet you have not told us if you have the old destroyed turbo for a Turbo Shop to determine what it was build wise.
As they handle these things all the time they may be able to identify the turbo/parts and find a cross reference in one of their books to go to a Cat Part Number if you are still after a second hand unit, or get them to find you one.

Failing that go to a Dealer and ask for the turbo Part Number from their Rack Setting Data Book to suit a D330C S/No 8B 1888 Industrial engine set at standard Maximum HP at your altitude and the RPM's you want to run at--usually would be 2200 RPM Full Load for optimum performance.

Being a late engine, so to speak, I do not have any Rack Setting Data in my files for these, maybe some one else here does.
We had a few mills in our area that ran D330 A engines, smaller bore and HP, and they ran very well at it.
Good luck with your endeavour.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

The turbo for the 4B1888 industrial engine is an 8S4590. Good for 2200 rpm full load to 2,500 ft. Boost is 32 +/-3 in. Hg.
Rack setting is 0.095"

Thanks again for the information. Do you have any ideas on a good source for the turbo and the parts?
