Caterpillar Segment whiskey,wine rack

This 6 bottle wine rack features authentic Caterpillar parts and hardware. The Bottle rest itself is made from a salvaged 2008 Caterpillar D8 track drive sprocket segment. All of the paint work on this piece is done with factory CAT Hi-way yellow paint . . It includes felt pads to protect your bottles and the bottle rest itself from any scratches. It is attached to the walnut base using Caterpillar washers, nuts and bolts which feature the CAT logo embossed on the bolt head. The pedestal is made of 13 separate pieces of walnut wood , each roughly 1 1/2 inches thick, glued together , then it was shaped, sanded and clear coated with 8 coats of a hand applied satin polyurethane to achieve the look you see here. The pedestal also features 12 felt pads secured to the bottom to provide protection for you surfaces. All of the brass work is made with 1/4 inch solid brass rod. The bends were achieved by using wooden forms and molds and a bench vice used as a press, and some bends were simply done by hand. The brass is inserted into 1/2 inch deep holes drilled into the segment piece and secured using 3/32 steel roll pins. This piece is definitely geared towards the industrial themed and heavy equipment enthusiast. This piece took roughly 65 hours to complete. .This piece is up for sale on Etsy.com .
