Hello to All Members:
I am trying to locate a good starter drive housing for my Caterpillar D4 tractor starting motor. In an attempt to remove my electric starting motor from its pony motor mounting the starter drive housing was damaged and may not be repairable. The part is identified as P/N 9B8863 (housing assembly) and is a component of the 6 volt DC starting motor P/N 6B2861. The starting motor carries a Delco-Remy nameplate with the following information: Model 1107024, Serial Number 0G13. Please let me know if you have a good part available and what it will cost. Thanks from David at email address: <a href="This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." target="_blank">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. PS: I have noted what may be a suitable replacement part for my application online. A number of companies (Steiner Tractor, Jensales, Amazon, etc.) advertise a new starter drive housing P/N ACS324 for Allis Chalmers tractors: B, C, CA, D14, IB, RC, WC, WD and WF. The text indicates that this housing fits Delco-Remy model 1107024. The diagram attached to this part measures and looks like what I need. Does anyone out there know if this is correct?

I bet the bendix housing was stuck on the starter mount so bad it looked 1 piece. I hit my starter (rubber hammer) 15 years back trying to get the starter out of the machined bore of the mount. This broke the bendix housing but the starter came off. I tried like crazy 2 find the housing, even tried A-C part numbered ones. Weren't exactly right. I had to redrill and tap the 1/4" holes. The big thing is the large tapered hole being close to location it needs tobe. good luck. I do have a extra housing but would like u to find a proper ones that cross match for future needs of others. I think i ended up with a M-Moline housing. good luck with ur project.

Yah, I was thinking about.
The housing may fit but I wouldn't bet on the indexing hole for the set screw being in the right place but that's an easy fix. Feed back on what you find out would be appreciated.

Now I have to give them a look, I have a couple Allis CA's and spare starters, I'm gonna give them a look today too. They do look very similar, I always guessed they would interchange easily, not really a reason to used a different part there considering Delco builds both starters.

Thanks to Old Magnet, ag-mike and JoeG for your answers to my inquiry. I have contacted the ebay seller as you suggested and they claim that their housing should work. Please review the attachments showing the ebay housing (in blue background) and my damaged housing (painted in yellow). The parts seem interchangeable but I'll only know for sure by making the purchase and giving it a try. Thanks for your help and I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks from David.

I checked with 2 different ebay sites and they told me the AC nose housing for the Delco Remy starter for the pony would not work. The Delco Remy starter I have has a model number 1107094 and serial number of 3B20. Did anyone out they work?
