what are these worth in the USA approximately?

I am looking to purchase a solid tool bar and brackets and the price recommended to the seller by Cat experts locally is well over $1000 dollars Au and 2k by the local Cat dealer:(

I was at a auction a year ago located near the Canadian border in Northern Minnesota. A 1950s D4 Cat with toolbar that was off of it and laying in the weeds were sold seperate. The tool bar with 3 short shanks but without the mounts sold for $1,400 US. The D4 needing much work sold for $1,100 which was scrap value based on scrap prices of the time. Not sure what the new tool bar owner paid for the mounts still on the D4 but he must of worked out a deal as they were torching them off when I left that day.

cat and no tractor manufacturer i know of made a solid toolbar. price of the brackets vary according to which model toolbar ur tractor has. 1 bracket is for no.4 and no. 2 toolbar setup 4 d2's and d4's. The larger bracket is a no.64 bracket for d4's and d6's using the no.64 toolbar system. The brackets willnot interchange, but the beams and tools will work on either setup.

d4 with swing around no.42 toolbar setup. note mounting brackets.

d4 with no.64 rear dedicated only toolbar setup. note absence of hydraulic cylinders on the sides of the machine while using 1 large center mounted cylinder on the rear of the machine. note larger mounting brackets.

sounds like someone knew what they wanted and what it was worth. at least the t-b setup was saved. i guess it wouldn't be to hard to torch off the trunnion mount bolt heads to release it from the track frame. if they were smart they'd get the hydraulics too. thanks.

the owner says the solid toolbar came with a D47U he purchased in the 1950s and was never used. The hitch brackets are exactly the same as the one shown with the triangulated recess into which the solid bar fits exactly. The bar is more than 3.5m long and weighs a lot. I struggled to pick up one end from the shed floor.

Has anyone else got any more info on originality etc and thanks for the price and advice so far.

My bad, I had the big toolbar (4.5"x7.5") on the brain. u r correct this is a smaller bar used for the coiled cultivator shanks. If i remember right that smaller bar originally was only 4 the coiled shanks. It was 2.25" x 2.25" solid square and cat considered it a light duty bar. Most ag tractor manufacturers circa 40's & 50's used this size bar 4 their trailing ag tools tobe mounted too. I seen photos of guys mounting a couple sweet corn planters to it. More info 2 follow.

Eric, I am impressed that you have a solid bar!! mmmm, do you intend to fit it to the latest acquisition (tail seat D2)?

Maybe it is time for a cider or two, must come back to Taswegia later in the year and inspect your toys. Has something been done about the surgeon who removed the wrong heads on Christine and Jackie?
