Two minds about this job. Could leave it as is , a good example of a repair job.
Try to find the parts to put it back to origional. Levers are correct just the tin boots / pivot parts including the long plate. Same parts on Diesel 35/40 RD6 I think. 1A7453 cover 2 of,L887 smallcover 2 of,L1045 spring 2 of,1A9786 plate 1 of ,1A7454 packing 2 of ,1A9793 2 of
The home made bits actually hold the levers from flopping about better than the possibly worn parts on the Diesel 40 where the levers do a good impression a drunken woman on 6" heels

I like to see the things that were modified years ago to keep the old machines working and useful. There is a bit of history there showing the ingenuity of the previous owner. Your choice though.
