I am looking for a Parts Manual and an Operator's/Maintenance Manual for a Caterpillar Fifty with a serial number of 1E398.

I have a parts manual for a fifty but for a later serial number range

You need the early parts and op manuals. The parts book is form# 8131, it covers D50 from 1E1-559. The op manual covering the same serials is form# 2357. The big red (spendy) book, General Instruction Book for Early Products Built By Caterpillar Tractor Co. has all the op and what little maintainance they published for gas 35, D35 through D75. It is form# SENR4673, a companion book for gas 10 thru 30 is SENR4672. I don't know if these are still available from Cat or not as mine are 20-25 years old.
