Hello all,

I am new to the forum and found the website through a simple Google search.

I recently acquired a 1942 Caterpillar R4 Dozer w/cable blade & winch. The machine is not running and is locked up - however the u/c seems to be strong - not much ware on it as though it wasn't used much. The paint is all worn and the machine is rusty, missing seat, exhaust extension etc. Although with it essentially being complete it would be an excellent restored machine. It appears to have been one that the military used because of the green paint I can see underneath the yellow after it came back to the states. I understand this machine had the 4 cylinder gas engine. The serial number is 6G1951 and the date of production on the tag is 8-20-1942.

I understand these are a rare tractor and historic collectors are interested in restoring these machines. If anyone has more interest I will gladly share some pictures with you - just didn't take any and upload them yet.

I am open to considering some offers.

Its not Super Rare, the ones here in the US tended to never have left the country, consequently no true War history, though a few did indeed go.
Reason is that ALL tractors built by Caterpillar doing the War years were painted OD/Green, then after the War the Dealerships repainted them!
This is a true fact that is written in the history books and is also evidenced by all the D2's and D4's out there that have the yellow paint peeling off to reveal the OD/Green underneath.
