Remember the winch on the track trick
Or 'come-along" and a couple of young guys to operate it!

Don't forget the planks to slide the tracks on. I am going to a neighbors auction in a couple weeks to attempt to save an RD-4 that has sat for 40+ years. It is a slider for sure according to the sale bill. At least it is only a mile from home.

Sounds like a plan. I could just take one of the log skidders up and drag it down the asphalt. I like dirt better anyway. Hmmmm, State Highway, wonder if they will notice. It's pretty rough already. LOL

I'm not far from me, price is right as long as you have another horse to push or lift it up on my trailer and room for my peterbuilt to get close with lowboy trailer

I guess a powerful winch on a trailer is a very handy asset! Anybody have an idea on what force is needed to skid a frozen track 7U up onto a trailer?? I assume about 16000 lbs with a coefficient of static friction around .40 or higher ??

Nah you don't need that. Just weld a couple of stub axles on to a piece of steel, jack the tractor up, slide them under, and now you're on wheels!

When dragging and hitting that tough spot when they always seam to stick a hydraulic jack under the hitch. Lifting a bunch of the dead weight off the tracks helps get it moving again when hung up. Pulling it off the jack is good for a few inches. More parts in the winch line is the easiest way to increase the pull though. Wetting the planks you are sliding the machine on make it slide easier also.

We used a ten wheeler Peterbuilt rollback truck it loaded with no problems. After sitting there for 20 years.
