mgood,

I would say you are close with the 4 to 5x cost factor. There are just so many variables though.

On my TEN, I did as much work as I could myself. But I'm not a machinist, and that's where my costs where the highest. New oversized track roller shafts, o/s idler shafts, o/s trunion bar etc..Then finding someone that could re-pin and bush the tracks...finding a place that could make new steering clutch disks. It could go on and on. I put all new bearings throughout the tractor. You will come up with creative fixes to problems. Locating shims to keep your track rollers and idlers centered on gauge. Missing or broken parts might be hard to come by. My engine rebuild required the crankshaft be welded and reground. I had to have the block sleeved as well. I made almost all of my own gaskets. Bought lots of sheet metal. Cleaning up parts takes an enourmous amount of time. I did all the painting too. Everything down to bare metal and epoxy primed. Mine isn't automotive show quality, but it is good for a tractor. I probably have 9 or 10k in mine. Which is a lot for a standard TEN. But right now...I would not sell it anyway. So if you plan on keeping it...only you know how much you want to spend.
Like George says, Jim has to be careful not to exceed a dollar amount to keep his business going. His time is worth $$$$. Yours and mine are not for a machine we plan on keeping.

Keep in mind that costs are higher or lower for the same services in different parts of the country. Also as the tractor size increases so do the costs.

A lot of money can be spent in restoring an undercarriage and getting it square again. Rubber tire tractors don't have that problem. But there is nothing like a crawler tractor to draw a crowd at a local show! Especially if you let someone operate it or give a kid a ride!! Makes it all worth while!

No, the Lindeman is not for sale; it belongs to a customer of Jim's. GWH

"Wyoming" John, the blade goes with the D2 that is pictured sitting next to the little Ten. The only Thirty I pictured (I think) was a "parts tractor", and if this is the one you are referring to, then you'd have to give Jim a phone call at 641-982-4207. GWH
