Boy Martyn, that,s nasty looking in there so must have been parked for a long time unless water got in the pan & it set.Of all the 100s I have rebuilt I never had one that had set for any length of time as all of them were usually in use at the time of rebuilding. Lots of engines did come in with scored pistons & liners or maybe water in the pan from a leak or whatever but not rusted fast.

Hello SJ,That D8 was one of the machines that triggered my interest in Cats in1962.We think that this machine was used in the removal of sand dunes to construct a caravan park. Its a very interesting project,I am looking forward to seeing it up and running and painted into military livery

Martyn,
Are you coming up to Ketton next weekend with Karl?
I've enlisted help of Tony Coates to get my CCU ready for the show, the CCU was in worse shape than I though, bearings destroyed on the fair lead sheaves, oil seals perished, brake band damaged, LH drum shaft badly worn and the CCU generally shift from lack of geasing \ TLC over the years.
The entrance to the field where my tractor's parked has a big pile of scrap metal from the farm on the RH side behind the hedge, Tony remarked that it reminded him of your IH collection in your back garden when he saw it!
