Eddie B. - thanx for the data on serial # for my cat 10. Help me just a little bit more, the # I posted was stamped on the boss on the left side of engine front. The # was not preceded by letters (PT) and I assumed that they had to be the engine's serial #. I cannot find any #s anywhere on the tractor that are precede by PT. Again, the boss is located on the upper left corner of the engine. If you have any more remarks they would be appreciated. Thanx, Phrank.

Hi Phrank,
sorry, never seen a Ten other than pix or literature, sounds like where you would expect to find it on the boss and stamped. Maybe someone else can help us both out here. Have scoured my parts book, and General Instruction Books for Early Product--big $ books with dark pix-- but can't see the boss you mention even.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

That is definitely the serial # of the tractor. That is one of the common spots of the 10 to find the serial #. The only place that you would find the PT stamped is on the brass plates on the back of the seat. It would be stamped on both tags, which are evidently missing. - Wally
