After a few hours of ciphering and head scratching, ruining a few yards of material, and breaking half a dozen sewing needles I was able to make a new seat for my 9U D6 a few years ago. My 17A D7 is in bad need of a seat and I recently aquired a DW10 that has no cushion at all. Does anyone have a good source of econimical/functional seat cushions? I am not concerned that the tacks are exactly the same size as was used in 1957, just that I can sit comfortably and not have to take out a second mortgage to buy them. That way I can save the second mortgage to buy fuel for one day. Any help is appreciated.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

cc found a good link - that looks like a good price on the seat cushions, especially if it comes w/new hardware.
I got a set like that from Regal last spring for my 9U, and looks like what was in that auction, and it was (looked at my invoice) $226 and some change for the back, bottom, and 2 arm rests.... plus freight....

OM,
The seat is OK. The back rest fit on the brackets the way it should, the arm rests seemed too big, and fit in only 2 of the holes, but seem to be attached firmly, and the seat bottom..... it's good, but it didn't want to fit down on the pegs quite right, and took a little work with the file to egg out the holes so it would fit down properly. But now that it's all on, I think its fine. I maybe spent 15 mintues to get everything to fit right. Of course, there's no way for me to tell if it was a problem on my tractor, or if it was manufacturing inconsistencies.... I'm not certain what the 'expensive' seat cushion sets look like, or how they compare to this one, but I'd certainly buy one again. The foam isn't real soft - it's a rather firm foam, which I would expect on a machine like this. So far no seams have come apart and the vinyl seems thick enough. Like I say, I have no basis to compare to the expensive ones, but this one is fine for me. If you want, I can grab a few pics of the cushions???

Hi RR,
Thanks for the description....doesn't sound to bad, seems all the remake stuff needs a little tweaking. I don' have any "high end" seats to compare either and I'm not about to. Dang wood rats ate my last new seat:mad:
I'll pass on your offer for pictures. Thanks

I just ordered a replacement seat for my D2 from Hahn Tractor Seats, <a href="This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." target="_blank">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
They aren't cheap though.
Anyone had any experience with this outfit?

I have bought many Hahn seats and the are great and are built as close to orig. as you can get, just rec. a few tailseat sets where wood shows he uses brass vent holes and hardwood like orig. Lots of other sources out they if you want Cheap just buy one you get what you pay for CHEAP CHEAP. And John is a big ACMOC suporter unlike the cheap seat guys.

I bought a repro seat set off of Bay for my tail seat 22. Looked OK at first but it doesn't fit in the pan area correctly. The material and finish just isn't there for me.
I have a Hahn seat for my other 22. There's really no comparison, the Hahn seat wins.
