I'm new to the group. I have a 1953 3t d7. (If I am successful in posting pictures) I have attached a picture of it about 28 years ago with me and my brother with our granddad on it. I serviced it last week and put brakes on it and if all goes well I'll be pushing brush with it this weekend. Jeff

I just finished putting brakes on it today. The starting motor started on the first pull of the crank(I didn't have to use the starter). I checked out the brakes and had the arm inside the 25 unit break(old repair let go). I robbed one out the other side(I'll fix that arm next week) and relined the brake band. I'll put it back together tomorrow. If all goes well, I should be pushing some brush tomorrow. Jeff

That is a real nice looking D7 you have there & we had lots of them here in the area years ago in the coal strippings jobs & other jobs too. There isn,t an engine that sounds like they did (do).I guess with the 4 cyl. engine & running at low RPMs that normally a 4 cyl. engine doesn,t is why they have a distinct sound of their own.

I got the 25 unit back together this morning and ran it all day. I did end up getting stuck in a wet spot. Its really dry here but I had some dirt out of a lake and I should of known better. I'll have to take the backhoe and dig it out tomorrow. The four cylinder sounded real good pushing brush and dirt. Jeff

I had managed to get stuck on Sunday. I dug it out yesterday with a backhoe. My granddad sat on a stump while we dug it out. I think he was quite amused at my situation. He talked about getting it stuck cutting cores for lakes when he used to run it back in the 60's. I think he was quite happy that it was me and not him. Jeff
