All Cat engines take the rotation from the flywheel end which will be CCW but from the front as you are interested in it would be Clockwise. The full load RPMs on a 7J is 1400 RPMs & high idle would be 10% higher or about 1540 RPMs. As for the pump I don,t have specs here right off hand for the capacity output but I know OM on here would have it if anybody would. Just a little added info. Cat did on special application made the regular engines in the opposite rotation for some torque convertor rotation in some big drag lines that I have rebuilt the engines on.They could have been used in other applications but the drag lines & torque conv. rotation are the ones to come of mind.

RR Joe, OM can add a lot more to this but the original cat 44 hydraulics I believe were 29 or 40 gpm depending which cartridge was used. They were relative low pressure and operated about 1000 PSI.
My original hydraulic on the D47U was needing work so rather that fix it I took it off to work on it and installed another 18 gpm pump. It works fine for the dozer but it is slow when using the Cat 40 scraper I have. It is a 2500 psi pump. When I get time I want to redo the 44 system and put it back on.

TIGHTEN from the FRONT; LOSSEN from the REAR was how old Stocky told me to remember engine rotation.
Stocky worked for Jordan Milton in New Hampshire when I first went to work for them. Great old guy.
He passed away sometime ago, but I remember him fondly and use a lot of his advice daily.
Of course you have to watch engine rotation in marine application as some engines are opposite rotation.
