Heres a few pics of some jobs ive been doing recently, the first pics are of an RD8 tractor ( a special wading tractor from the second world war). Myself and David Muggeridge are pulling the tractors steering to bits, next to come off is the final drives, I hope to take a detailed strip down pictorial of this event. Next is a Daewoo 130 excavator with a knackered track drive gear box, the rats on this site are as big as grizzly bears !!!. also found on this site is an amazing amount of old machinery as the owner never sells anything he just pushes it to one side. The Massey-Ferguson C55 is used about 3 times a week, the other machinery in the pics are a JCB 820 ( there is 3 of these on site ) and an International 175 fitted with a Bobo cab (Swedish I think). The two black and white pics are some of the pile I have of tractors working on sites from a company called Bernard Sunley who ended up as the Terex / Blackwood - Hodge dealers

I forgot about this old dog of a dump truck, im sick of fixing these things they only seem to motor for about a day at a time, its a TA30 Terex (terrible). this one has suffered a bit too much muck jammed around the prop shafts, I wont go into too much detail, but what a nightmare!!!

It is beyond my imagination how you manage to repair all this big iron from out of a Land Rover. What do you lift heavy parts with? How do you manage to bring all your heavy tooling in such a light vehicle?

Is that a TC 12 in the background? Behind the the Old D8?

Warren I only have a metric adjustable spanner and a big hammer to fill my tool-box????, as for lifting big bits ,like track sections or frames, if its an excavator it has to lift its own bits about,(more pics soon on this topic) if its a Bulldozer its still able to help lift afew bits with its own power,
Finaly yes that is a TC12 in the background , I am getting closer to it by the week , I am mad keen to try my spanner on it????

TCtractors, I really enjoyed the old photos of the RD8. Thanks for posting. I'm not sure that the D8 undergoing repairs is that early. I did note the spoked front idlers. A classic machine. Thanks for posting. GWH

The RD8 that we are stripping out the back end of must be fairly early as the top pinions have a ball race instead of a roller race to spin on I will get the serial no of this old banger asap,the important thing is it was modified in the War effort to travel in a fare depth of water after leaving the landing craft, it has a high level starting handle for the donkey (pony) motor, and is historicaly a rare and important tractor in the history of England,
This week I have been making a sub-frame to a Scania Truck to enable the fitting of a 45ton/m crane so I have been arc welding up £3,000 of steel to carry this lump, I dont bother with the MIG welder much as I am a time served master at the stick method???
I have also bought myself a early C/Present a new 105 ton pulling ram for the push /pulling of sprockets, its on its way to me from the factory in Italy, as my old one is now scrap metal, did you notice the old service tools I was using to strip out the clutches with ,they are old CAT tools that I have heaps of,
still working hard ,and happy. tctractors

Hadn't noticed the Dozer in the background. Maybe because it resembles a wall.
What size Cat would this compare too? Makes the RD8 look small.
