Hi, Great site. I am new to the forum and need to pick some experts brains. We have an early 1940's grader that needs to be sold. It was driven up to the 70's then stored. The motor still contains good oil (relative) and holding anti-freeze. We have not tried to start it. It does have a rear wheel that has some damage. Other than a make shift wooden cab, the grader is all original. I have pics of the machine.
My Dad wants this machine out of his property and has given me the responsibility to handle it. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nathaniel 607-745-0135. Central NY area.

Looks to be a 1R 212 model (40-47). Looks fairly decent.
If it doesn't run you might get $1k
If it runs and checks out ok you might see $3,500
Just my opinion...very subjective topic.

Gutch,
there are always 4 values anything will bring, 1) scrap money, 2) running money, 3) collectable money and 4) running collectable money.
if you want the most for your grader, then you will want to get it running and have a serial number to get some information from.
I am new to all of this stuff, but I have been reading a lot of posts and it appears to me that EVERYTHING relates back to S/N.
good luck

I bought a model 12 8T (1946) for $2500. That grader is all original including the cab and everything works.

Thank you all for the advice. It looks like I better get the serial number and get her fired up. My dads got the owners manual, filters etc. Worst case is scrap!

A couple of months ago I bought a 1940 Cat 12 at auction. Runs good and everything works. Paid $3400 for it plus 250 to get it hauled home. Hope you do ok. Marty

I'm going to put it on the classifieds today for $1500. I really don't have the time or knowledge to tinker like I wish I had. My dad has kept it in a building since the late 70's when it was last run. If anyone has interest, let me know. Thanks

The $3500 is going into a 70D that I am working on. The 8T doesn't need any work done to it.
