What is the current cut off year for ACMOC? and as time goes on is it reviewed and moved along to incorporate more models?

1960 is the cut-off year and I have several times raised these points on this board but apathy rules ok!

The Model & Merchandise Committee is working under an agreed cutoff arrangement with Caterpillar of "40 Years and Older". This language will be built into the contract at the next revision.
Thus, presently anything from 1967 and earlier is fair game.

Thanks for this imformation,actually this is very interesting news because we grunts on the ground hardly ever hear from the officiers in charge of this organization!!!! A lot of us would also like a bit more discussion as to what models are to be produced etc.

Neil D, if you are a member of ACMOC you get the newsletter that includes information about what happens at board meetings. We don't usually communicate by way of the web site. Actually, the change announced by Lee Sorbel was so recent that it is truly news that the board has not acted upon. The current licensing agreement between ACMOC and Caterpillar, Inc., still reads 1960 and before, but at renewal will be changed to 40 years or more.

As for what models will be made in the future, the model committee has been working hard to explore what should be manufactured based upon potential sales (that is, popularity), cost, etc. Their deliberations result in some proprietary information that can not entirely be exposed to the public until the models are ready for advertising in preparation for sale. I think the committee would be interested in your views, and the views of others who use this board, on what scale models you, and others on this board, would like to see manufactured and sold by ACMOC. So let the comments begin!

Hello gwh diesel,there is a huge demand for scale models.I have been involved with suppling info to a model maker on IH machines.The big problem is that Cat inc wants 50% of income made on Cat equipment models, JCB takes 15% on models.I am on the chapter 2 ACMOC committee,would like to see a better quality model of Cat machines.First gear models have a fantastic range of high detail models at a fair price.
Would you object if I started an ACMOC chapter 2 website to compliment this one?

It seems hard to believe that at some point, high tracks, compactors, and pavement re-cyclers will be considered "classic".
Since the Ruehl name has been resurrected, has anyone considered asking if they would re-issue the Caterpillar models that they once made?
I agree that the First Gear models are priced extremely fair for the detail that is included.
The models I would like to see produced include:
A pull type scraper, #70 or #80, or later equivalent
D7, D8, or D9 tractor with CCU
#12 Motor Grader with a snow plow
Any stand alone Caterpillar engine (D353, D318, etc.)

Martyn, I see no reason why a chapter can't have its own web site. The question was never raised before. But the first question off the top of my mind is whether a chapter having its own web site would siphon off participants in the ACMOC web site and result in a degradation of this web site. Perhaps you folks in chapter 2 could consider that. The next question is how your own web site would serve your members better than the general club web site. It just struck me that if you want to post chapter events as a "sticky" here, we can accommodate you. Maybe a discussion would result in some improvements here, even if you chose to create your own web site.

I don't think a chapter 2 website will have any impact on this one.It will mainly be used for contact numbers,machines/parts for sale and UK events.The main hope is to gain new members.I have a web site for international harvester drotts plus south wales Caterpillars.The Drott website can be seen,go to google and tap in internationaldrottclub This will give you some idea of what I would like to set up.
