Track shoe cracks

What is causing these shoes to split like this?
It seems to be starting in the middle and running outwards, bearing in mind they are 22" plates on a worn track chain........or maybe running over rough/stoney ground?

Richard--does the crack appear at the top of the shoe also? If it doesn't or is much smaller i would guess that it is a tension falure on the bottom of the shoe----Possibly from rocks between the edges of the shoes as they pass under the idler in a forward direction, or as they pass over the idler in a reverse direction.
Vers Vissa for the sprocket. ----

Dan,

Yes, it is really only noticeable on the under-side of the shoes and not on all of them. Can't say its been run over rock, at least in the short time I have had it anyway but I can see what you're saying about the stone and understand that the whole purpose of wide pads are for soft ground.

Thanks for your input
