Hi there all this is my first posting on this site so i'll start by saying
hello.
Have been after a D2 for a while, well we finally got one the other day
and I thought I would share some of the pics I took during the recovery
of the tractor from its resting place for the last 30 years. Downside
of the purchase as can be seen from the pics is that when it was purchased in the seventies it was stripped down and left in pieces so it's a bit of a jigsaw. Would appreciate a bit of help on a date if anyone can help, serial number is 5J4806SP, also what does the SP denote at the end of the number.

Thanks in advance for any info provided.

5J4806SP would be a 1941 model wide gauge with "special parts". The special parts may be any substantial option within the tractor, but didn't designate things listed as "attachments" like lighting, pto unit etc. All the WWII era D2's were SP and it is supposed to be non-standard transmission gear ratios.

Looks like a PROJECT! I have a couple of those too!

I'm sure you can finish up the job started 30 years ago. Keep the pictures coming!

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Looks like a real project ahead for you but I know you,ll be proud of it when it,s finished. That would have the D3400 3-3/4" bore engine in it.

I am from South Yorkshire in England and yes that is an old windmill
in the background, it belongs to the farm where the tractor was in
the county of Lincolnshire.
