this one didn't go by the house at 100 mph+ with nothing touching the foot feed?
the duramax just keeps rattling along- put fuel in it and change the oil when it tells you to--

Boy am I sorry to hear of that story. I trust the warrentee claim went thru with zero problems. From what I hear thru trucking newsgroups the new engine is better than the old powermax 7.3 diesel. I'm just going by what other's I heard say though.

I saw this on Red Power. It seems that Navistar has recalled the diesel engines that they are selling Ford to go in the 2008s as they know there are bugs, but Ford refused to listen.
The guy said the local dealer would not sell the ones on his lot because he knew there would be problems down the road.

I read an article in the business section a few weeks ago that Ford sued Navistar over production issues on the ford powerstroke diesels. Navistar turned around and said either play nice or no more motors. Ford said they had enough to get through another month of building trucks, then trouble. Apparently, Ford wanted Navistar to pony up for some of the warranty repairs and Nav said Ford should take care of more of it, etc etc.. Maybe you got one of the motors right when things started going bad, and somebody gave it an extra bad case of voodoo. I hope you can get it fixed under warranty if Navistar and Ford haven't sorted things out yet. Good luck. By the way, my Duramax is still running fine. Not wanting to start a feud, but no probs here.

I ran my 2001 Duramax for 94000 then last June it went down in Olathe Kansas the dealer had to replace the injectors. This was the only thing other than oil & tires . I still had the original brakes on it! When it got to 99705 mi. in Sept. a lady in a big hurry to get to Walmart ran a light and we hit head on and totaled my truck.
I've since replaced it with an '06 and what a difference! 60 more HP and a 6 speed.

Now that I have a little time I will explain why the ford again. I had an 06 6.nothing that was trouble from the start, finally ford agreed and bought it
back and traded me up to the 08 with no money, so I felt that I had to try the new truck so we ordered it and it came through before any of the ford navistar problems got going , the truck went from the dealer to get the hitch installed and then back to the dealer ran fine all this time ,then on tuesday the prep crew ran it around and washed it up and went to fill the fuel tank and then it went to missing on one cylinder, they took it to service and diag and determined it was #2 and that it had to come apartto fix , found broken rockerarm and so ordered parts now is fixed and running good. Seems really powerful so far. If I have any trouble with it I will trade for a GM right there.

Good luck with the new truck.
Do the new trucks cycle the injectors for 30 seconds after you shut the engine off like the 6.0's?
