Calling all Cat Tractor Collectors

Hi, my wife and I are flying into Las Vegas, Nevada on March 28th, taking Route 115 to 127 to the Death Valley area. I-15 to I-40 to Needles, California and Route 95 to Yuma, Arizona. From Yuma, we're taking Routes to Wickenburg, Prescott, Sedona and Flagstaff. Then, taking I-40 back to Las Vegas and flying back home on April 11th.

We're wondering if there are any cat tractor collectors on this route to visit. I'm especially looking for D2 3J5J parts; a front logo in particular. But it's always nice just to meet other collectors, as well.

Regards,
Jim Legge

Jim, if you get the chance, definitely visit the Gold King Mine in Jerome, close to Sedona. It's a huge, sprawling open-air museum with old trucks, crawlers, mine machinery and much more rusty iron. If you're lucky, the proprietor Don Robertson will be there to talk to.

We took a similar trip 14 years ago with the 2 kids, it was so cheap to fly to Vegas. Drove to Death Valley, stopped at a place that had a bottle house and gold mines you could walk in, Rhyolite. Stopped at Badwater, down through Joshau Tree park, then over the mountains to SanDiego. We walked across the border at Mexicali also. I was so glad to get back to the U.S. side. The car rental place wasn't happy we had put 1500 miles on the car in a week. I'd like to take that trip again. Phil

Nova.....if you have time you should go see the new Sky Walk. It is located on the rim of the Grand Canyon. I think it is northwest of Flagstaff.
It is built out of glass shipped in from Germany and is self supporting. It is a half circle and you can look down 4000 feet to the river below. I think I'll set in the bar and watch you walk around the circle tho.
Yes you need to see the mine in Jerome. Lots of old equipment there.
Have a good trip in the USA.................Claney
